Dr. Jean Hsu
Dr. Hsu was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and moved to Vancouver with her family when she was in high school. She always wanted a career working with animals, and decided to give herself the chance to pursue a challenging and fulfilling career!
Dr. Hsu — Dr. Jean to her clients — completed her Bachelors of Science at the University of British Columbia, then attended veterinary school at Ross University at St. Kitts in the Caribbean. After completing her clinical rotations at Purdue University, she decided to return to Vancouver to practice. Now she works as a full-time veterinarian at Cambie Animal Hospital!
Surgery, particularly the processes of removing malignant tissues and repairing wounds, is Dr. Hsu’s main area of interest within veterinary medicine. She also likes communicating with pet owners, understanding their concerns and being able to help.
At home, Jean has two cats—Carib, who she adopted in St. Kitts when she was in veterinary school, and Tommy, her cousin’s cat who is currently living with Jean.
Outside of work, Dr. Hsu likes traveling. She loves exploring the cultures of different areas, and has been to almost every continent, more than 20 countries, and more than 100 cities! She says the many places she’s visited and lived in makes her flexible and adaptable, and allows her to appreciate what we have in the world we live in.
